ABOUT THE FESTIVAL


This is an annual cultural and religious celebration, that commemorates the Filipinos' acceptance of Christianity and to honor Senyor Sto. Niño. A solemn and festive gathering, Sinulog showcases Cebuanos' faith and ingenuity that reminds of the Philippines' Catholic roots. It is a month-long festivity with the main highlight held every third Sunday (or weekend) of January in Cebu City, Philippines with religious processions and grand parade.


CEBU SINULOG FESTIVAL 2015 - SCHEDULE OF EVENTS


The Sinulog 2015 Grand Parade is on January 18th (Sunday) - which is the main highlight of the month-long celebration. But for the visitors to experience the festivity at it's best, it is highly advised to arrive in Cebu 3-4 days before the Grand Parade. Some other highlights of the celebration are the following:

Considered as the Philippines' Queen City of the South, Cebu City is the main venue of Sinulog Festival. It is the "second capital" of the Philippines and a significant center for commerce and trade in Visayas Area. Being the oldest city in the country, it is also where the Philippines' oldest church can be found - the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño where the miraculous image of Senyor Sto. Niño resides.

Metro Cebu offers wide range of accommodations, from budget class to mid-range to high class hotels. Considering the millions of attendees for the past years, it is highly advised to make hotel reservations a month or two ahead from the event schedule. You may need to stay within or nearby Cebu City Downtown Area for convenience as most of Sinulog activites are held in the area.
